Senior Fellow Nouf Bazaz Presents at the Annual School Community United in Partnership (SCUP) Conference

On Friday October 6, 2017 WORDE Senior Fellow Nouf Bazaz will present at the 18th annual SCUP Conference, “Embracing Diversity: All Means All!”
Speaking in two morning sessions, she will discuss avenues to improve care for under-served populations, such as as the growing Muslim American community in Montgomery County, MD.  Her presentation will highlight statistics and anecdotes of how bullying and discrimination may affect diverse Muslim youth in Maryland. These stories will be contextualized within a wider discussion on cultural competency when working with Muslim families and psychosocial concerns that this population may experience. This workshop will also provide best practices and recommendations for individuals, families, schools, and the wider community in meeting these challenges.
